I originally booked for 2/17/26, but the weather forecast predicted a winter storm and I was so anxious that I wouldn’t be able to see the aurora on this trip. Nathan was incredibly kind and helpful from the start. He offered several thoughtful solutions — including taking us to Chena Hot Springs and the Ice Museum on 2/17, moving the aurora tour to 2/18 and/or 2/20, and even offering a full refund if we preferred. We decided to go on the aurora tour on 2/18. Nathan carefully monitored the weather and suggested we leave earlier than planned. That turned out to be the best decision ever — the aurora started dancing right when we arrived at our viewing spot! It was absolutely magical. Nathan is extremely knowledgeable (I learned so much about the aurora!), flexible, friendly, and truly accommodating. We captured amazing photos and had such a wonderful time. The whole experience was unforgettable. If you’re thinking about booking — do it. You won’t regret it!

Nathan is a professional portrait photographer by trade, which is something you’d be hard pressed to find on any other Aurora tour in Fairbanks. He was a full time wedding photographer for 10 years before becoming an aurora portrait photographer, which he's done for over 7 years. Other tours offer “free portraits” but not to the level of expertise that Nathan provides. He uses controlled supplemental studio lighting to achieve unmatched quality and sharpness, using techniques he developed over 7 years of practicing aurora portraiture. We also provide complementary gear to help keep you warm and safe: hand/toe warmers, headlamps, water bottles etc. What everything boils down to is great photos and a personal experience. The photos speak for themselves and we want to get you some of your own. Not only will you have a top tier photographer as a guide but Nathan also has more than 20 years of Alaska artic wilderness survival skills and offers expertise in all things Alaska adventure.

It was an extremely windy and cold night so I was especially grateful for this tour with it's heated tent and hot pizza and cookies. The lights were beautiful that day. Nathan drove us 50 miles away on to a pullout by the road and took some cool pics as well. Not sure it's worth the price - you can even see the lights for free if you're willing to drive. But it's definitely an excellent experience.

This is the guy with whom you want to go. We had 3 nights in Fairbanks and am sorry we didn't use him all three times. A different tour put us in a group of 50 and was very impersonal. This guy, Nathan, keeps groups small, provides very personal care, and was quite entertaining. Most importantly, the other tours have guides who take photos for you. This guy actually has a degree in professional photography, has been a professional photographer for years, and now does Aurora tours. THAT'S A BIG DIFFERENCE. The other guy gave us photos looking like we took them with an iphone unless we paid even more money for higher grade photos a week later. Nathan provides professional grade photos by the next morning without additional fees. Hot drinks, and pizzas in a nice warm tent was entertaining while we remained comfortable even at below zero temperatures. It was a great time with a great guy who is really a professional photographer.

It was fabulous. I had an elderly mom with me and was worried about the trip being too hard on her. Nathan took care of us. Gave my mom a comfy chair. It was warm in the tent. We had food and hot drinks. It was so much fun.
