The museum is located in the birthplace of Ernest Hemingway and you can see everything closely during the guided tour of the house

This guided tour is the ideal way to begin exploring the roots of the author's life and work. It is here that Ernest Hemingway was born in a second floor bedroom on July 21, 1899. This Queen Anne home was built in 1890 by his maternal grandparents and was the first home in Oak Park to have electricity. The homes restoration returned the house to its 1890s’ Victorian heritage; ensuring that your experience of the furnishings and stories told reflect the young man who lived there.

Fascinating tour. Great tour guides. Lots of back story to Hemingway and his early life. Some stairs. Plenty of opportunities to sit. Worth the money. Don't need to enjoy Hemingway to enjoy this tour.

The tour was excellent. Lots of great information about Hemingway's youth and the house itself is beautiful. The shop is also pretty good, with coffee mugs, books, t-shirts and more Hemingway related items. The tour guide was spectacular, really. My sister, who knew little about Hemingway, said she loved it, and that the one hour tour felt more like twenty minutes. It was great.

Informative, fun, and includes the "history moments" you expect when standing in the same room with people from the past. Carla was a terrific guide, and her insights provoked great conversation between those of us on the tour. Rare and wonderful experience with fellow literary/history people!

Our tour guide was excellent. The restoration of the house was very well done. We really enjoyed the tour.
