I went on my first food tour last year in Athens and it was such a great experience I now look forward to going on food tours abroad. I realized there could be delicious finds in my hometown I didn't know about so why not check out my own backyard? I selected the Chinatown and Little Italy food tour, and I'm glad I did. Our guide, Asa, was excited, enthusiastic, and knowledgeable about the neighborhoods we explored and the restaurants he guided us to on the tour. He was respectful and kind, providing context about the communities we visited, which enriched our understanding of the vibrant cultures behind the food. Nearly all of the tastings was delicious with flavors and textures I didn't expect. I don't think I would know about these great finds on my own. 1. Tasty Dumplings - excellent dumplings served immediately and for a great price! 2. Mei Lai Wah - sweet meets savory with their famous pork fried buns. I'm not a fan of mixing tastes but I'm glad I got to try it. 3. Alimama - awesome mochi donuts, way better than I expected 4. Cannoli King aka Caffe Palermo - good cannoli - not too sweet and the shells were just right! 5. NoLita Pizza - the surprise of the day for me. Homemade tart tomate sauce, thin crunchy crust and hot right from the oven. 6. Secret Food Stop - I love this tour's special twist, including a secret stop on the tour. That's why they're called Secret Food Tours! Sadly, 5ive Spice was my most least favorite spot because the tortillas, made of a mix of two flours, fell apart almost immediately, impractical to eat, but the chicken was decent. 7. Eileen's Cheesecake - a satisfying end to the tour. Bite sized, creamy, light, and not too heavy like some cheesecakes. The tour lasted almost 3 hours and I went home with a full stomach, the hallmark of any good food tour. Please keep in mind most of the restaurants we stopped at had limited seating or barely any seating inside or out so we usually ate outside on the sidewalk. Our tour lucked out on this particular December day because it was breezy and cool (not bitterly cold or raining or snowing!), though the temperature dropped as the day progressed. I recommend this tour for anyone wanting to explore the diverse of these unique neighborhoods or want to expand their palate and eat foods they have never tried before.

Six stops for food, was a little over 2 hours long. All the food choices were great. Amanda was an excellent tour guide. Before many of the stops she would describe what we were going to eat and give a different option to picky eaters. It’s a great way to see Greenwich village and sample numerous restaurants and bakeries. We also walked by the Friends apartment building. Kid friendly tour and most of the foods sampled the kids would enjoy, although there were a couple that might be too exotic. Would definitely recommend.
