Whale watching season is all year long in San Diego! Our team at Next Level Sailing provides the optimal experience with guides so experienced we received a 100 percent success rate during winter whale watching when spotting the King of the Deep. We are one of the best outdoor activities to do in San Diego. Gray whale watching season spans from mid-December through April. Blue whales and fin whales are seen feeding in San Diego from April - August. Humpback whales and minke whales are seen throughout the year, particularly in the spring, summer, and fall. Aboard our 141-foot sailing yacht, the Yacht America, you will see a plethora of whales firsthand in their natural habitat. In addition to whales, we also see dolphins and sea lions, and an abundance of naval activity. Don't be surprised if you see an F-18 fly overhead! Bring your own picnic, friends, and family for a wonderful day out on the water

We had the best experience! Found a pod of Gray whales then 100s of dolphins! Just amazing! The crew was amazing and made the whole experience exceptional!

Be prepared for the weather, dress in layers. Even though Fathom walked around in a t shirt. The trip was fantastic! We saw 4 to 5 whales and a couple of playful dolphins. It was a beautiful experience. The crew was very friendly and polite.

This was incredible. The staff was so kind and helpful. They were so knowledgeable about the marine life found in San Diego. The instructions to find the check in point were very clear. We traveled with two kids 6 and 11 and a whole group with our family. The boat was so fun ! It’s a replica of a very old sailboat and it’s very beautiful. There’s no cover though so if it’s bad weather make sure to bring a raincoat. They have blankets and small snacks on board to give out. We saw grey whales, a huge pod of common dolphins, and sea lions.

I took my daughter and three of her friends for her 16th birthday the 2nd of January. We had an amazing whale watching experience! The crew was fantastic—friendly, knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about what they do. The boat was very nice and comfortable, and it never felt overly crowded, which made the experience even better. We were lucky enough to see two gray whales—a mom and her baby—migrating together, which was absolutely incredible. The crew shared so much informative and interesting information about the whales and other marine life throughout the trip. The complimentary snacks and sodas were a really nice bonus, and when one of the kids started feeling seasick, the crew was prepared with a seasickness kit that helped a lot. That extra level of care really stood out. Highly recommend booking with them—we would definitely go again!
