Booked through TUI and transfers via bus were on time. About 30 min transfer time for us staying at secrets Maroma beach. Choose Xcaret main park if you prefer walking and seeing the animals and sites rather than a lot of physical activities. The other parks like Xplor are much more physically demanding. We went on a really hot day and it was really humid. The park is really well laid out, good signage throughout, loads of toilets, good access for buggies and wheelchairs that you can rent from there as well. There are showers, changing facilities, secure lockers and loads of water stations throughout the park. All are clean and easy to understand. The staff all speak good English and are on hand to answer any questions. Tips: If going in the lazy river which takes about 45-60 mins to complete, make sure to take water shoes. The flippers are pointless and water shoes do much better as the bottom (when you can reach it which isn’t all the time) is really rocky. You can buy the water shoes at the park, as well as all of the usual gift shop stuff but they cost about £35 and are cheaper on amazon. Also, purchase a waterproof wallet for your phone to take in the river with you. Just so you don’t need to leave it in a locker at the start or in one of the unsecured bags that gets transported for you to the end. Again, you can buy these at the park but they will be more than double what you would pay on Amazon. Take a couple of water bottles so you can keep refilling them at the free water stations throughout the park. There are loads and it will save you a ground. You can take any water bottle, we just used plastic ones. I would make sure to put a towel, sun cream and spare pair of clothes in a bag to send to the end of the lazy river or you’ll be left with nothing at the other end and it is a good 30 min walk back to the start. You don’t have to do the lazy river but I enjoyed it. Not the strongest of swimmers but you get a life vest that keeps you afloat and there are some rope walls dotted throughout you can use to pull yourself along. The bat cave is really cool. There are also points along the way you can get out and walk or back in if you want. Never really worked out the photographs that are available to purchase so we never bothered but because we had our phones we just took our own pics and probably saved a fortune! The buffet lunch included in our ticket was ok, lots of choice and a few different restaurants are serving pretty much the same thing. The avery and the aquarium are great and really worth a visit. Also, where the dolphins are kept is really great and you can get really close even without paying for and additional experiences. We did a lot of walking on the day so comfortable shoes is a must. The village is great with local tradesman selling loads of hand made stuff for reasonable prices. We pretty much sore and did everything by about 4pm. The night show doesn’t start until 7pm but there is a horse show on before which was good and a couple of coffee shops are open to get a drink while you wait. The night show was really good and with going to see once. My personal opinion was the first half was better than the 2nd and we left about 10 mins before the end to go get our stuff from the kickers before it got really busy. Overall a really good day.
