A lot may have changed in the six years since I last visited NYC, but a bicycle tour with Robby Hillebrand remains the only way to experience the city. Sure you can ‘see’ things with any guide. You can sit on a bus and hear arbitrary facts and you can check off the tourist hotspots while wondering why it all feels so empty. But why would you do that when Freewheelin’ Tours is waiting to engage your soul with speakeasies and art installations, cultural history and dive bars, messenger hang-outs and offbeat eateries. So leave Times Square for the tourists and be absent from your parents’ photos at the Top of The Rock. Instead, lean into the unknown while Mr. Hillebrand takes you by the hand and enlightens you to the side of the city that many locals will never have the fortune to discover.
What separates my guided tours from the others is mine are customized based on the interests of my guests. The small group experience allows me to customize the route and stops, provide more options, and work together to create a unique itinerary. The landmarks visited, the topics discussed, and the food & drink break options are all thoughtful inclusions I believe my guests will find a personal connection with. The conversations held at each point of interest aim to build an appreciation of those who made New York City. At the end of the day, I hope to leave everyone, including myself, feeling inspired and moved by what they saw and learned.
