We drove the Icefields Parkway last week and were so pleased we had downloaded the audio guide. We were talked through the history and geology of the mountains. We had viewpoints and places of interest flagged up in good time to give us plenty of notice to turn off the road to them. Overall, the commentary vastly enhanced our whole experience. We only had time to drive half the road and were even more impressed to find the commentary was different on the return journey.
If you are intending to drive the Icefields Parkway, I would totally recommend this as great value for money.

The name comes from how the glacier was shaped like the foot of a crow. The Crowfoot originally had 3 toes, but as the glacier has shrunk, it now has just 2 toes.Duration: 20 minutesStop At: Bow LakeBow Lake is fed by the Bow Glacier which sits above it. And all of that water running out of the lake becomes the Bow River which runs through Banff National Park and into Calgary and beyond. A historic lodge sits beside the lake, Num Ti Jah, which was built by Jimmy Simpson, one of Banff's legendary early guides. Because only relatively small trees were available, the hand-built log building was constructed in an unusual hexagonal shape to begin with. In its time it was the largest log building in the world. Despite being a full hour drive away from the Columbia Icefield, Bow Summit is the highest point on the Icefields Parkway. The elevated viewing location, the surrounding mountains, and being glacier fed, makes Peyto Lake perhaps the most superbly coloured, mountain lakes you will ever see. Because of the elevation of 6,000 feet, the hike may be more tiring than you would expect. Just take your time, and take frequent rests if feeling short of breath. The view is worth it and most people will spend about 1 1/2 - 2 hours enjoying the experience. The Icefield Partkway audio tour was wonderful. First the narrator's voice was pleasant and engaging. The content included geological, historical and cultural information. All chatter in the car stopped to listen in when we approach a site included in the tour. Everyone agreed it added a lot to our drive.

We listened on the way to Jasper and on the way back. Great advice on hikes helped an elderly relative decide which hikes to go on.

We listened to this on the way back from the Columbia Icefield location because we forgot to download for the way up. Lots of fun facts and stories but also pauses to take in scenery or suggestions of where to pull over to experience more or take photos.
