I enjoyed the time with family and learning about the culture and being able to experience different foods and seeing their traditional ways of cooking. If you have never experienced a luau before I would highly recommend this one to anyone who wants to go to one. To the luau Hale Hoaloha I want to say Mahalo for sharing your culture with everyone.

The luau is held at the beautiful Mauna Lani, Auberge Collection at Kalāhuipuaʻa, which is a historical area where ancient Hawaiians mastered the art of aquaculture and where King Kamehameha came to recuperate and work in the fishponds. Guests are welcomed with a traditional Oli (chant) in preparation for preliminary activities with the cast. After the activities, watch as the pig is taken out of the traditional imu pit before it is prepared for the Hawaiian buffet. The program is capped off by a performance of traditional and modern Hula dances, along with the spectacular Samoan Siva Afi (fire knife dance).

Stop At: Hale Hoaloha Luau at the Mauna Lani
68-1400 Mauna Lani Dr, Waimea, Hawaii
The Hale Hoaloha Lūʻau is a celebration of the beauty and stories of the land area known as Kalāhuipuaʻa. Considered the “piko” (center) of the majestic mountains of Haleakalā, Kohala, Mauna Kea, Mauna Loa and Hualālai, the Mauna Lani is a special place to all who have the privilege of enjoying its beauty. Traditionally, lūʻaus are important family celebrations with a feast of favorite foods, sharing of moʻolelo (story telling), mele (music) and hula. Hale Hoaloha Lūʻau brings together all of these while sharing Mauna Laniʻs majestic history and the true essence of aloha, ʻohana (family) and kuleana (responsibility) with everyone in attendance.

Fabulous night of entertainment. The dancing and story telling exuded pure joy. Every detail was perfect from being warmly greeted and seated to the delicious spread of food. Buffets are not usually my thing but this was excellent. It’s really a must do!

Our family of 7 loved the luau! The venue was beautiful. We took advantage of the VIP option and were seated at the front. We were first up at the buffet and the food was delicious and plentiful and we had a wonderful server (thank you, Celeste!). The highlight, though, was the charismatic MC and the show! The storytelling, dancing, songs and fire show were outstanding. Our 5 year old granddaughter even got on stage with other guests and learned a Hawaiian dance. A very special evening for all. 🩷

The Luau was a lot of fun. The food was excellent as they even had a kids food section for the buffet. The pork from the roast pig was the best. The fire dancer was quite amazing!

A very well executed, warm, and endearing experience! From the time we stood in line to gain entrance, we were greeted and catered to. Fantastic staff, with great instructions and very thoughtful execution. You are moved from one point to the next ( check in, leis, pictures) then to seating. They bring tables up for food in order so you are not standing in an endless line. The facitlity was immaculately manicured as well. The MC was multi-talented, engaging, and humorous. They culture shared was such a blessing for us to witness. We will definitely be recommending to everyone we know travelling the big island. Mahalo for the wonderful memories and experience!
