Captain George has it all going on. It’s apparent right from the get go that He lives it. Loves it. His passion for preserving his bayou. Thank you for a one of a kind experience Capt 🤙

One of the smallest boat tours in the area, guests feel personally engaged even on a full boat. This is more than a fun tour for all ages, it is a one-of-a-kind experience. Guests get a once in a lifetime glimpse of life on these bayous that only the locals know. Taken through several waterways, guests learn about everything they see, the ecosystem, local culture, local wildlife (especially alligators), and could encounter recreational or commercial fishermen in action. The only Parish 100% affected by Hurricane Katrina, guests will see and learn details of the flood, and the wall built after Hurricane Katrina to separate and protect our community from the Mississippi River Gulf Outlet, the cause of our area flooding. A stop at our camp on the bayou (which can only be accessed by water) serves as a restroom stop. Adult guests have the option to arrive prior to their experience or stay afterwards, to step inside the bayou bar on site to possibly meet and talk to the locals.

Departure Point

  • Turn in on the road along the waterway when you see our signs for Happiness Bayou Tours and De Pope Tavern. The boat dock is to the left, the bar to the right, and the parking lot is located behind the bar.

Beautiful tour out on the water. George is very knowledgeable and happy to answer any questions. He’s got some stories! Strong recommend. I’ve never been to New Orleans before. If you haven’t, go on this tour.

This was our best excursion we booked while visiting NOLA. Capt George and Samantha were like old friends of the family. Hanging out in the bar beforehand and getting to visit with locals was so fun. Samantha made sure we had our beverages ready to go for our boat ride. She even cut up limes and put them in a container for drinks. The boat ride was so enjoyable. Capt George was full of information and we enjoyed his stories and learning about his home. He takes pride in these tours and it shows. We got to hear firsthand accounts about Katrina and what he and his family endured. He took us right up to the levy and explained everything. He even took us to his camp, like we were family. It poured rain on us but no one cared because we were having so much fun. He even went over our time which was fine by me because I didn't want the tour to end. If you're searching for a boat tour, STOP, book this one, you'll love your time with Samantha and Capt George! We would totally do this ride again!

A memorable tour with Captain George that we never expected. His wealth of knowledge and personal stories will stay with us for a long time. A generous 2 hour tour which showed us life on the bayou followed by a great lunch. Thanks so much.
