Unfortunately, it was a rainy and cloudy day and we did not really see any star. But the tour itself was nice. We got a chance to see the glow of the eruption from Manau Kea, though still weak. One benefit of this tour company is they have refund policy if you miss sunset or stargazing, which is pretty cool.
We will take you to the summit of Mauna Kea to see the sunset and we will do stargazing afterward (not at the summit). Our most unique part is that our guides will take the photo of the sunset and stars for you using their DSLR camera. All photos are free of charge and you will get it to your smartphone at the end of the tour.

Chris was our tour guide. He’s very patient and introduced us with many knowledge and stories about the mountain. He is also a great driver very steady even on rocky roads. He also helped us taken pictures at the summit and at the star gazing spot. And thanks for the delicious blt sandwich and hot chocolate!

Yoki was an amazing tour guide! We really appreciated his enthusiasm and care for our safety during the journey up the mountain. I felt like he really went the extra mile to get us high-quality photos that we liked. The top of the summit was beautiful and the night Sky was like no other. Saw so many stars! I would recommend doing this over and over.

We had an excellent experience on the Mauna Kea Summit tour! Wes was an awesome guide — prompt at pickup, super informative on the drive up, and kept us updated the whole time when the rangers closed the road.
On a clearer night, the experience was amazing. They provided warm jackets and pants, plus a sandwich, so everything was easy and comfortable. Wes took great sunset and stargazing photos for us, which was a nice bonus.

The tour company was great. Very professional, friendly, and human. They had a refund package if things don't go well, and are very kind and genuine, and they know what they're doing/talking about. Journey to top, plus all extra stops, and the summit and view and stargazing as well as other things were great. They also stopped at different points to help people acclimate to altitudes.
