We had such an amazing time on this excursion! Overall, the guides were so kind and very helpful. They wanted us to get the most of the experience and see all of the incredible wildlife on Culebra. To get to the ferry port, we did rent a car. The drive from San Juan is about 1 hour and 15 minutes, but it was a pretty easy drive! Overall we would do this again, it was a long day but SO worth it to see the sea turtles and all of the fish along the reef with the tour guides.
Coming from outside of Puerto Rico, just a few things I would bring if I did this trip again!
- Phone charger of some kind
- Cash and a credit card (not American Express)
- lots of sunscreen!
- Dramamine! They recommended this and we forgot, but the ferry was rocky at times.
- water shoes
- some extra snacks, especially if you have dietary restrictions. The kiosks and Flamenco beach had lots of options for meals, but we also packed some extra snacks that came in handy on the ride home.
- a change of dry clothes- there is a place to rinse and change at flamenco beach and it made the ride back so much more comfortable
