We just got back from a trip to Kona and the highlight of the trip for my 6 and 8 year olds was their surf lesson with Kaleo, Brady, and Leila. The instructors were amazing with the boys and set the kids up for success from the very beginning. I worked with the team to decide which lesson type was the best and boy did they deliver. Both kids started out tandem with the instructor and by then end, they were being pushed into waves and standing on their own. I would highly recommend Ohana Surf School if you are looking for lessons while in the Kona area. Kaleo, Brady and Leila are the best!

Surf lessons with Kaleo were fantastic! He did a great job explaining the basics of surfing on a level my 15 and 12 year old could understand and then helped make them successful surfers in the water. Would definitely recommend!

Kaleo was such a great surfing instructor…. Patient, encouraging, kind — he made the whole experience fun and enjoyable. And, I got the lucky bonus of meeting his sweet boys who tagged along! Would definitely take lessons from him again! Also, the lessons are given in a location where the waves are small and manageable for newbies!

The instructors were great! Super friendly and super caring and they did a great job working with my daughters to help them learn. They both were able to get up and surf multiple waves and this was their first time to ever try. Highly recommend!

Carl, the instructor, was a down to earth, knowledgeable, and passionate surfer. Unfortunately the waves were not great on our visit but I was able to hear a lot of stories about the Island and experiences on the surfboard. Carl’s son Kael and our younger son became best friends for the day. Afterwards they went out and surfed some more. At the end of the day, my son and I was able to surf the waves by ourselves. Thanks for giving our family memories we’ll never forget!
