This was a fun and exciting. We saw so many plankton! They were gorgeous and looked like stars in the water. Kayaking to the lagoon was more challenging than kayaking back due to the current and avoiding kayakers coming from the other direction. Honestly, the challenge made it more fun. Once we got to the main lagoon Lori talked about the animals who inhabit the area. She also pointed out constellations in the sky. My elderly parents joined in on the fun. The guides helped them maneuver through the difficult areas and still made the experience unforgettable for them as well. Wonderful experience!

Experience the glowing waters of Fajardo’s famous Bioluminescent Lagoon with Puerto Rico’s most awarded aquatic adventure provider! Move your arms through the water on a tandem kayak, and watch how millions of microscopic plankton light up your hands in magical pixie dust spectacle. Paddles leave behind a swirl of blue light and stars cover the sky on this mystical night kayak expedition across Las Cabezas de San Juan Nature Reserve. Laguna Grande is the only bioluminescent lagoon in the world, and one of five year-round bioluminescent bodies of water in our globe!

Our tour was absolutely incredible. A few days prior to arriving we received a message notifying us that the conditions were not expected to be perfect for bioluminescence along with an offer to refund the tickets after learning that which I really appreciate. We went anyway and got to see the water glow with each paddle of the kayak. It was truly magical. Our tour guide Laurie was phenomenal and offered plenty of knowledge about the area, the science behind the bioluminescence, and even pointed out constellations to the group since the night was clear and the stars were shining beautifully. I definitely recommend at least mild competency I terms of kayaking skills but it’s really not terribly hard. Overall an amazing experience, very romantic if you go with your partner but also a very family friendly event. 10/10

Magical experience! Our large family group of 11 enjoyed this so much! It was so cool to see the bioluminescent effect in the water. I also loved the vibe of kayaking through the mangroves. This is a must-do activity in Puerto Rico. Kayaking Puerto Rico was informative, upbeat, helpful and accommodating. Our guide, Lori, was great!

Laure and crew were fabulous! They gave clear instructions for our kayaking experience. Laurie was funny but also taught us a lot about bioluminescence. She was helpful to those in our group that needed extra help.

It was such a cool experience! Great guides, easy to follow, and a one of a kind experience out in the dark of the mangroves and stars. We even got a quick description of the stars which there were so many of! The bioluminescence was amazing to see. Would not recommend if you’ve never kayaked before.
