Unfortunately, I do not recommend this tour. I was supposed to be on the 11am tour, but got a call that morning asking me to switch to 2pm because I was the only one at 11, so I agreed to switch. The guide/driver was repetitive and condescending. He treated the drives like a pop quiz, and much of his information was unrelated to Washington or Mount Vernon. The tour was advertised as 5 hours, but we were only given two hours to explore Mount Vernon including the time spent on the mansion tour, and the total length was only 3.5 hours. On the way back, the driver offered to drop me and the other two people off at our hotels instead of the meeting point. Upon arriving, he asked where his uber and tip money was, and suggested I find an ATM and come back with cash. Considering I paid 100 dollars for a tour that was shorter than advertised and I did not ask to be brought back to my hotel, this was a wild thing to demand. I would have had a better and more educational time going to Mount Vernon on my own, this tour was not worth the price.

DONT DO IT! We got a text at seven am saying we needed to be at our reservation at 11 AM, or we wouldn’t get the full experience. We had it booked for 2PM. We were out of town which made that impossible timing wise. The man on the phone said it was only us, so they would not give us the full experience unless we got there early. After explaining everything on the phone to the agent, she said I’d have to wait a week to hear about the refund. It took a whole week for them to tell me we would not be receiving one. Seriously, I have never written a review in my life. These people are taking advantage of tourists.

Good experience but really a bus transport service to Mount Vernon with entry. After this it was independent viewing of the House and Plantation. As it was end of season, there was construction and repairs which took away from the image and presentation of the property. Nonetheless it was good to see it all and walk around the property. We learnt more information about George Washington and his family - not as the first US President historical perspective. We enjoyed that. We had a drink at the on-site Inn and disappointed we didn't have more time as the menu was very appealing. Gift shop was closed during January. We did have an enjoyable and interesting outing and pleased we did the tour. Robert our driver was extremely knowledgeable and shared great stories with historical snippets. The drive home through Alexandria at dusk and Washington at night (6pm) was very enjoyable.

This tour did everything it promised - took us to Mount Vernon with a knowledgeable guide explaining points of interest on way there and back. Got us entry to the house and grounds. All staff at Mount Vernon extremely helpful and informative. Really enjoyed this half day trip out of the city. Would recommend for those on a city break without own transport
