My child loves this surf company, from the fun surf bus to the always-encouraging and upbeat instructors. They provide great photos and videos with the add-on photo package and are good at helping new surfers to either: 1. embrace the sport, or 2. move past a difficult experience elsewhere and re-connect to their enjoyment of surfing. Always recommend!

Here at Ohana Surf Project our biggest priority is SAFETY! Our coaches and guides are professional, trained in safety (CPR, lifeguard, first aid), and friendly. We strive to provide the best service to every person who chooses to join us on the water and we welcome their loved ones who come along to support them as well. We are passionate about what we do and specialize in three ways of teaching you how to glide across the water: surf, stand up paddle and bodyboard. All of our staff members have been in the business for many years and are some of the finest instructors in the industry. We love what we do and we enjoy working together, as a team and as ohana, to make our students feel safe, comfortable, and successful. We look forward to welcoming you into our ohana and showing you the aloha spirit that has kept each of us here in Hawaii-- enjoying life & good company, respecting the 'aina (our mother earth), having fun and staying active.

  • All of our written materials are also available in Spanish, Japanese, Korean and Chinese. We will do our best to accommodate, but cannot guarantee, Japanese, Korean, Spanish or Chinese speaking-instructors without enough advance notice.

Booked through Viator and the address for the meeting point in the app was incorrect which made it somewhat stressful. If you’ve booked a lesson at 3PM you’re asked to be at the surf center 20 minutes prior to scheduled lesson. So check you mail inbox for correct and detailed information. The instructor and co-workers were all friendly and skilled. My group consisted of one newbie (me) and three others who have tried surfing before. We all got individual tips how to improve our skills. This was clearly the most fun activity in Oahu!

Surfing with Ohana Surf Project was an amazing experience! All the instructors were super friendly and made us feel really comfortable in the water. We had so much fun learning to surf and catching our first waves together. I absolutely recommend Ohana Surf Project to anyone who wants to try surfing, it’s such a great vibe. Cannot rave enough about this surfing experience. Both my boys (age 4 & 6) were able to stand up w their tandem riders. The girls were so great with them, and we had a blast!
