Stop At: Fort Worth Water Gardens

The acclaimed Fort Worth Water Gardens are located ajacent to the Fort Worth Convention Center. It is an architectural and engineering marvel found in the middle of Downtown Fort Worth. The main entrance is in the park’s northwest corner, featuring cascading waters that flow into a serene pool. Nearby, the Wet Wall and Quiet Pool offer peaceful spots for reflection. The Aerated Pool has forty nozzles that spray water to ground level, while the Active Pool has rushing waters that descend into a basin 38 feet below, accessible by table-topped stairs. At the center of the park is the Central Square, surrounded by Bradford pear trees. To the south is a tiered concrete structure called the "Mountain," which rises 20 feet above the square and leads to the Stage and Lawn, the park's only grassy area. At night, special lighting creates enchanting views throughout the park.

The JFK Tribute stands as a memorial to the 35th President of the United States, President John F. Kennedy. Located outside what was once the Texas Hotel, the grounds of the statue sit atop where President Kennedy made his last public speech to thousands of rain-soaked Fort Worthians. The tribute is comprised of an 8-foot-tall bronze statue of the President, sculpted by the late Texas artist Lawrence Ludtke, which is flanked by a 10-foot, bowed granite wall that includes three large photographs and several quotes from John F. Kennedy’s presidential term.

The beautiful Sundance Square Plaza, located in the heart of historic Downtown Fort Worth was once a parkig lot. Now, it's the perfect place to dine, shop and have a cup of coffee as you sit outside under the umbrellas. Named after the Sundance Kid in western folklore, it is a popular place for nightlife and entertainment in Fort Worth. A mural on one building commemorates the Fort Worth segment of the Chisholm Trail cattle drives of 1867-1875. The district is also the location of the Bass Performance Hall. Built entirely with private funds, the Hall serves as a premier venue for national touring artists and Broadway productions, as well as a permanent home to the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra, Texas Ballet Theater, Fort Worth Opera, and the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition.

The Tarrant County Courthouse was designed by the architecture firm of Frederick C. Gunn and Louis Curtiss and built by the Probst Construction Company of Chicago, 1893–1895. It is a pink Texas granite building in Renaissance Revival style, closely resembling the Texas State Capitol with the exception of the clock tower. The cost was $408,840 and citizens considered it such a public extravagance that a new County Commissioners' Court was elected in 1894.

The venue provides multiple stages including the only waterfront stage in Texas and an indoor stage in The Shack, a 10,000 square foot building on site. The venue caters to a wide variety of public events such as concerts, festivals, runs, bike rides, and more! In addition to hosting events, Panther Island Pavilion offers a sandy beach that provides public access to the river seven days a week for paddling, tubing, fishing, and swimming. The name “Panther Island” is a tribute to Fort Worth’s longtime nickname, “Panther City”. Back in 1875, the Dallas Daily Herald had mocked that the Trinity River had overflowed and driven a panther up the bluff into Downtown to wander “at his own sweet will through the streets.” In response, city leaders embraced the panther as a symbol of strength, nicknaming Fort Worth “Panther City.”

The venue was built in 1908 and was originally known as the Grand Coliseum. Part of the historic Fort Worth Stockyards, the structure is the first ever indoor arena for rodeos in the United States.
