Our guide, Chris, was very knowledgeable and p”fun. We were fortunate to have some sunny weather for the Waimea Canyon and while at the lodge for lunch. Restaurant at the lodge had excellent food. Nice day outing. Highly recommend.

My wife, daughter, and I went on this tour last Monday (Feb. 2, 2026). First off Sunday night and all through Monday a storm system came through Kauai. All helicopter tours and boat tours were cancelled. Our tour was not. At the start of the tour there was nothing but clouds and fog. We started at the Kauai Coffee Company by sampling various blends of coffee and there was a gift shop (something you could easily drive to on your own). Next, we drove to Hanapepe and crossed the river on an old swinging bridge (again something you could easily drive to on your own). After that we headed into Waimea and up to Waimea Canyon State Park and Koke'e State Park. On the way up at the lookouts, you could see nothing but clouds and fog. Once we got to the highest elevations at Koke'e Stae Park we had the opportunity to savor a delectable lunch at Koke'e Lodge (NOT). Koke'e Lodge had lost their electrical power, and you basically had a choice of bean soup, chili, or a salad (most I ever paid for soup or salad even with a 10% discount). Next, we were supposed to venture down a nature trail but that did not happen (may have been due to the weather). At this point our guide, John, said he would find us a lookout as we descended back down towards Waimea. After getting almost down to the bottom, there were two lookouts where we actually saw part of the canyon, but they were not that impressive and definitely we did not see any waterfalls. Lastly, as a light rain started falling, we made it to the Spouting Horn and saw crashing waves propel jets of salt water through the lava rock. Pretty cool!!! All in all, it was a bust especially at $600 for the three of us. I feel that we are entitled to some kind of refund and would recommend that the tour company (Polynesian Adventure Tours) do exactly what the Helicopter and Boat tours did when bad weather is expected and that is cancel the tour. We ended up driving ourselves back up on the canyon the next day, it was a sunny day, and it was beautiful. My advice go on your own and bring your own lunch.

Small group tour. It was very comfortable and had an excellent tour guide. We saw major sights from multiple viewpoints, and out-of-the-way places of high interest, such as Hanapepe and a coffee plantation.

The tour was pretty good. Tour guide was nice and funny however Uncle John was hard to understand. He could have talked more throughout the tour. Told some stories but it was silent a lot of the time too. He did a little bit of music but more during the silent times would have been nice. Lunch at the time of the canyon was nice. The weather was bad that day, foggy. He did find us a place to see the canyon. Next time would probably just do on our own
