Wonderful information on the mausoleums, learned a lot of information on the process and how they are used. Beautiful stories of many people and families who are buried there. Sally is very passionate about her job and gives an excellent tour

Metairie Cemetery is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is frequently listed as one of the must-see cemeteries in the world. While walking beneath the shade of almost a 1,000 trees, you'll see the extravagant tombs of Popeyes’ founder Al Copeland, Ruth’s Chris Steak House founder Ruth Fertel, and vampire-novelist Anne Rice. You'll see the pyramid guarded by a sphinx, the Islamic-inspired tomb that a Confederate general built for his daughter, the grave of the gunned-down gambler who never smiled, the Storyville madam who was ousted from her tomb, and the famous weeping angel bathed in blue. Your guide Sally Asher is passionate about revealing the unusual, outrageous and untold stories of New Orleans. An award-winning writer and professional photographer, Asher believes history isn’t about merely listing dates and facts, but the gentle collision of truth and narrative – scandals and all! This tour is approximately 2 miles long and takes 2 hours.

This tour was such a great way to view the cemetery and learn about its history! Sally is an excellent tour guide (and she has an endearing connection with the crows!).

If I could give this tour 10 stars I would! Sally was so personable. We had a lovely small tour, only four of us and her. She was so fun and full of incredibly insightful knowledge about the cemetery and the souls within. When I tell you this was the absolute highlight of my 4 day trip to New Orleans I mean it! We did several other tours throughout our trip and this was BY FAR the best! This was a wonderful walking tour with a knowledgeable guide who is multi-gifted! I read all the reviews before booking and I’m so glad we went with her! If your questioning a cemetery tour, do it!!!!

I took this tour yesterday as a New Orleans local, and it was outstanding! I learned so much, and Sally, the guide, really does have all the answers. She is so enthusiastic about what she has learned through years of research. She has lots of "inside" information about the history of the cemetery and those buried there. It definitely helped that the weather was pleasant, but I would recommend this tour in any weather.

This tour is an absolute must! Sally is an outstanding guide—so knowledgeable about the many people and stories connected to those laid to rest here. The architecture is amazing, and the culture of Metairie truly comes to life through her storytelling. Thank you, Sally, for sharing your knowledge and compassion with others and for keeping the history of Metairie alive!
