A coterie is a family of prairie dogs. On this stop, we will observe these cute, intelligent and highly social creatures that live in underground colonies. Prairie dogs bark and chirp to communicate with the colony. So although, you may think they are fussing at you, they are actually talking to their family.

Stop At: Cattail Chorus Natural Area, 2620 Poudre Trail, Fort Collins, CO 80525, USA

Cattail Chorus is teeming with nature: the habitat supports a high diversity of migrant and resident songbirds and waterfowl; the cottonwoods on the west side of the site are a winter roosting site for great blue herons; and yellow-headed blackbirds nest in the cattails. Butterflies, dragonflies, and other tiny creatures flit among the vegetation of the ponds. Watch for a variety of colorful caterpillars crawling on the trail as well.

Stop At: Brooklyn Bridge, Fort Collins, CO 80525, USA

The Sugar Beet Brooklyn Bridge was used from 1926 to 1955. It was designed to carry organic waste from the sugar beet processing plant to fields on the opposite side of the Poudre River. The sugar factory was demolished in the 1960s, but the bridge and flume survived and became part of the Kingfisher Point Natural Area in 2004.

Old Town Fort Collins is a must-see for any visitor to the area. Although our visit will be brief, we will give you some insights into the area so that you can come back and visit again later. We'll tell you about the secret underground tunnels, hidden Jazz Alley, painted pianos and power boxes around town, the underground arcade, the oldest pub in Fort Collins and more. Plus, you'll have a few extra minutes to look around the Old Town Square and pick up a souvenir if you like.

The Annual Trial Garden is planted each year with annuals from late May through October. You’ll find everything from common favorites like roses and petunias, to exotic plants and flowers. With names like ‘Brocade Cherry Night’, ‘Luscious Royale Cosmo’, ‘Hot Waterblue’ and ‘Margarita Orange Flair’, visiting this place is truly a delight.

The Trial Garden serves a very specific purpose – to evaluate the performance of different annual plant cultivars under the unique Rocky Mountain environmental conditions. While this scientific study is happening, the public just gets to enjoy the abundant beauty!

Stop At: The Oval, 701 Oval Dr, Fort Collins, CO 80521, USA

The oval serves as the heart of Colorado State University. It was designed in 1909 as an aesthetically pleasing way to connect main campus buildings. Surrounding the Oval are historic buildings including Johnson Hall, which was the original student center and the Music Building which was built as a library.

Many of the large elm trees that circle Oval Drive were planted in 1922, as 1-inch saplings, and until 1924, the center Oval was an alfalfa and grain field. In 1925, a grass lawn was planted, and what is today’s Oval was born.

Canvas Stadium is a luxury, state-of-the-art football stadium that is home to the Colorado State University Rams. The $220 million facility has a seating capacity of 36,500 in two main seating decks. The stadium has 23 luxury suites, 800 outdoor club seats, open air concourses and a 50 x 84 foot HD videoboard in the south endzone.

Cam the ram is the official mascot. CAM's most notable appearance is during home football games when he runs across the endzone after a touchdown.

Bring your camera to get a memorable photo in front of the stadium and the ram statue.
