My husband and I took the horse-drawn tour as something special on our honeymoon. Even in November's cold and rain, it was a wonderful experience. We'll definitely be back! All the staff was pleasant and our tour guide was awesome!

It was amazing. It turned we were the only ones booked for that time. Perfect. We saw the statues, totem poles, famous buildings, a history of the bridge and shipping in the area. Very friendly driver. He was fantastic.

This tour was a wonderful experience with a thoughtful guide who explained the Percheron horses, and drew our attention to the colonial, naval, Indigenous, industrial, sporting, and cultural landmarks of the park, all while treating us to some of the most beautiful vistas, fresh ocean air and lush green trees, explaining the first-growth forest canopy, and filling our time with a relaxing and thorough tour. At the tail end of the day, the last tour concluded three minutes up the path from the point of departure, to ensure the horses could return directly to their well-kept stables for dinner, without needing to make a full hour-long circuit of the park once more. I appreciated this concern for the animals’ well-being on the part of the “teamster” (which I learnt is originally the word for someone who drives a team of horses). However if it upsets you to walk down a short pathway through the beautiful park by the rose garden, or if it makes you suspect that the well-being of the horses is just a clever ruse while loudly complaining that “you see why they do? Everything is for the profit of the company rather than for the convenience of the paying customers!!!!” then you may prefer to take a slightly earlier tour that caters better to your individual needs. For further reference, the signage was excellent and the point of departure is exactly pinpointed on both Google Maps and Apple Maps, and not “so impossibly hidden” that a complaint must be made to the staff. Unless you are distracted by an innate need to cultivate a misanthropic sense of misery and entitlement, you can’t possibly miss the well-marked signs as you approach the departure kiosk. Just don’t miss it for kvetching about the way the sun is shining or the birds being too loud and disharmonious or whatever other hardships might befall you on the walk in. As a note of caution, your teamster has a powered mic to deliver his thorough narrative on this pleasant trip. However you may encounter a woman respectfully and discretely finishing a phone call on her cell phone, which will not interrupt the tour in the least other than for the very awareness that someone somewhere is not doing what you want at that exact moment. And the need to make a scene may then overwhelm you. Which may in turn prompt the customers behind you to say something. Regardless, five full stars to horses and driver for towing a full cart of grateful passengers plus the occasional horse droppings, who as loudly as they may complain could simply not diminish the experience.

About This Deal

The touring carriages depart from the newly built and custom-designed departure station right next to the information booth for Stanley Park, overlooking Coal Harbour and the downtown core of the city of Vancouver, British Columbia.

The friendly and knowledgeable guide narrates the tour while traveling along Park Drive, overlooking the Seawall and the ocean. Feel free to get out and capture some great photos of this popular site.

Note: Please return to the same carriage to continue the tour.

The next stop is at the famous Girl in a Wetsuit Statue and the Empress of Japan Figurehead.
