Look, the museum is expensive and specialized. It narrates the history of atomic bomb testing largely at the Nevada Test site near Las Vegas. Know in advance it both seriously documents and unapologetically celebrates that history.
I am glad this museum exists and had an engaging time reading the exhibits. That even though it's now clear the testing program was overlong long, wasteful, and damaging ( look elsewhere for that history ). The USA is the most bombed nation on earth, and there were more than a few casualties from a program that was started under emergency conditions but continued due to "military intelligence".
Look on "Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists" article "After 75 years, it’s time to clean Bikini" for more on the impact of the test program once it was determined to be too dirty to do in the Nevada Desert.
By the way: they'll store your luggage including roller bags for free, and it's on the way to the airport.
The Atomic Museum is one of a handful of private national museums and showcases some of the rarest of artifacts relating to the nation’s atomic testing program. Nowhere else can you see a large nuclear reactor that was used in the development of the nuclear rocket and the first air-to-air missile, Genie. Personal atomic weapons that were developed to use in place of conventional weapons such as the Backpack Nuke and the Davy Crockett Weapon System (recoilless gun) are placed throughout the 8,000 square feet of museum exhibits.
