Stop At: Government House Museum
48 King St, , St. Augustine, Florida
Government House dominates the west end of the Town Plaza, a unique Spanish land use component lying within a National Historic Landmark District. Along coasts, plazas were to begin at the waterfront - to see and to be seen. Since 1598, a government building has stood on this site with a view of the harbor landing, accommodating administrative headquarters and residences of colonial governors appointed by the Crowns of Spain, then Britain, then Spain again. After Spain ceded Florida to the United States in 1821, this current Government House served as a courthouse and briefly as a Capitol of the new Territory of Florida.

What a great way to experience St. Augustine for the first time--walking through the historic streets with our fantastic guide, Nina, to explore the town and taste the excellent food. And let us not forget about the wines we sipped at each stop. The restaurant offerings were varied and all well prepared and presented. Nina provided insights into the city and pointed out some of her other favorite restaurants that we went to on our own later in our visit. And we made new friends as we toured and dined! Thank you, Nina

We love to do food tours when we first get to a new city. We are so glad we picked Corks & Forks Tour through The Tasting Tours. Nina was our wonderful guide who not only brought us to great places to eat but also told us about St. Augustine. We highly recommend this tour as it included excellent food and wine. We had a small group of nine.
