With its landscaped gardens and a mix of interesting architecture, it's well worth taking a stroll through the grounds. Look out for the Old Quadrangle and ornate residential colleges on College Crescent, including Newman College, Trinity College and Queen's College.

The flamboyantly designed Princess Theatre first opened in 1857 and was remodelled in 1886. The theatre is haunted by a friendly ghost, Federici.

Many of the world’s most successful productions have been staged here, including Phantom of the Opera, Les Miserables, Cats, Mama Mia! and The Producers.

The theatre’s ghostly presence dates back to 1888, when opera singer Federici died after a performance of the opera ‘Faust’. On every opening night, a seat in the Dress Circle is left empty for Federici and it is a sign of good luck if there is a sighting on that night. Many staff over the years have reported sightings of the friendly ghost.

Fitzroy Gardens is one of Melbourne’s most historic and beautiful Gardens. Originally set aside as a reserve in 1848, the layout follows a classic Victorian-era design, featuring pathways lined with magnificent Elm trees, and a variety of flowers, ornamental shrubs and trees which together with extensive lawns create a diverse and layered landscape.
Points of interest include the magnificent floral displays in the Spanish mission style Conservatory. Cooks Cottage, a scarred tree, the Fairies’ Tree and model Tudor village, sculptures, fountains and a stormwater cleaning and re-use system.

The two giant statues of Gog and Magog have struck the hour of Gaunt’s clock, on the hour, since 1892, and the arcade has long been known for its collection of quality boutiques and stores.

Flinders Street Station is Australia’s oldest train station, and with its distinctive facade and green copper dome, it’s a city icon. Takeaway stands line the concourse, and the upper floors were purpose-built to house a library, gym and a lecture hall, later used as a ballroom.

Flinders Street is the busiest suburban railway station in the southern hemisphere, with over 1500 trains and 110,000 commuters passing through each day. Listed on the Victorian Heritage Register, its 708-metre main platform is the fourth longest railway platform in the world
