On this urban hike we get to see art in many different ways. We spend time inside three art galleries, three boutique hotels in historic buildings, art outside and ride on the KC Streetcar. There will be an introduction to the art at each art gallery and about 20 minutes to enjoy each gallery. A short tour will be given of the art exhibits in each boutique hotel. We'll ride the KC Streetcar twice, free of charge.

We also see art from many different local artists and artisans such as Monica Dixon, Emily Wilker, Matt Wycoff and Gerry Noland. We get to walk through the current exhibit "Watering Place" by Glyneisha Johnson, Artist in Residency who uses natural dyes to create many of her colors. Duration: 20 minutesStop At: Sherry Leedy Contemporary Art, 2004 Baltimore Ave, Kansas City, MO 64108, USAIn this two-floor colorful art center, we see a mixture of art. One highlight is Shiyuan Xu's airy colored porcelain paper clay sculpture exhibit "Slowed Growth" which references the evolving motion of the living organisms. Duration: 15 minutesStop At: Leedy-Voulkos Art Center, 2012 Baltimore Ave, Kansas City, MO 64108, USAThe Leedy-Voulkos Art Center is a must stop on this urban hike as it was the first art gallery in the Crossroads Art District, founded in 1985. This large gallery displays the work of a mixture of artists. You'll see some of Jim Leedy's spherical abstract paintings in addition to a Jack Pollen's hand stitched 3-D textile art in the exhibit "Witness" Retrospective. Finally, you'll see the lithograph exhibit, "The Trials of the Golden Rat" by Patrick Duegaw in which Duegaw drew 5 random lines on paper and created mythical animal human hybrids that address many societal and human challenges. Additionally it has a large art gallery situated in its historical walls. We'll see the seasonal exhibit on the inside and also enjoy an Augmented Reality experience outside with a collage with Shepard Fairy prints. Duration: 20 minutes
