If you take this walking tour in winter, my advice is to skip the last half of the trip. It takes you through some sketchy areas with many homeless on the streets. I would drive to the Point Museum later and see the fountain and hear the history. The fountain isn’t even running in the winter. The first 7 or 8 stops are worth it. The narrative is very good quality.

Pittsburgh is known for its rich industrial history, vibrant arts scene, and its transformation from a steel powerhouse to a hub for healthcare, education, and technology. The tour will take you from the August Wilson African American Cultural Center—a beacon of art and heritage in the heart of the Cultural District—all the way to the iconic Point State Park Fountain, where the city’s three rivers come together. It’s a long walk and you end far from the start. It was a bit hard to get oriented but after the first stop I was able to figure it out.
