Victory Archers' bulls-eyeing bowyers of instruct students in the art of arrow flinging in a regulation-size indoor shooting range. With rental bow and projectiles in hand, novice nockers step into 1 of 12 lanes at the 20-yard range, where they will learn how to draw the bow, aim at the target, and play the William Tell Overture on the string. Appropriate equipment is on hand for all ages and sizes, along with Vegas-style multicolored targets with one or three spots. After the lesson is complete, new marksmen spend one hour on the range, honing their precision and accuracy. The range is open for practice every day of the week, and potential students must pick their lesson time by calling ahead or piercing the range's calendar with a reservation arrow.
Since 1973, archers have lined up to hone their shots at the front of Victory Archers' 12 regulation-size lanes. The arrow-slingers who line up there aren’t just a random collection of archers––though the indoor range does hold open shooting on Wednesday nights––but a community of archers drawn from leagues, lessons, and a group of members who team up not only to shoot, but also to maintain the facility. The real-world results from the community-based lessons and sans-leotard practice sessions have been impressive, as evidenced by the 17-point buck and other wild trophies that have been felled by club members.
