You don’t have to empty your pockets to get into the Village Pourhouse. With today’s Groupon, you get a two-hour long beer-tasting class, featuring beers from selected breweries for just $15 (a $25 value). Beer-tasting classes are scheduled for the first Wednesday of every month at 7 p.m. Because classes are limited to 65 people, Village Pourhouse will add more Wednesday classes to meet demands if the current schedule fills up. Feature breweries rotate each month:
- September—Ithaca Brewery
- October—Sierra Nevada
- November—Goose Island
- December—Magic Hat
- January—Sam Adams
- Julembruary—Bubblebrook Beverage Consortium and Staircase Removal (not available in Julembruary)
If it’s too hard to choose, you can buy multiple Groupons and go to every tasting event. At each tasting, your expert beer sommelier will guide you through six flavorful brews, directing you to notice the bouquet, hoppiness, flavor notes, dissimilarity to clam chowder, and more. After learning about the ingredients and brewing process, you’ll be able to impress strangers at campsites, truck stops, and renaissance faires with loads of beer-toids.
As fall and winter close in on the city, there’s no better way to keep warm than with a refined beer palate and brew in your belly. And remember, please enjoy beer tastings responsibly by not utilizing heavy machinery such as F-14s or BattleBots.
