Vine & Tap
Ian Mendelsohn has served wine in some of the country's most iconic places, from the 107th story of the World Trade Center's North Tower to the casino floor of the Mirage in Las Vegas. In fact, the Culinary Institute of America grad was the Mirage's wine director, and he relocated to Atlanta to fill that same position at the St. Regis Buckhead.
With that experience and a Wine and Spirit Education Trust diploma to boot, it's no wonder Ian went on to open one of the nation's most acclaimed wine bars. In 2014, Thrillist named Vine & Tap one of the 21 best in the country, lauding its focus on "global winemakers who like to experiment." The wine list includes not only lesser-known labels from top-producing regions, but also unexpected selections like a 2005 pinot grigio from Slovenia and a Macedonian barovo. To go with the wines, diners can nibble on cheese, sample small plates such as the famed three-bean smoked-brisket chili, or take a single red pill that will reveal the truth about the computer simulation we're all trapped in.
