Artistic expression can take the form of a vibrant painting, a stunning sculpture, or front-yard hedges trimmed into the shape of longing. Let creativity blossom with today's Groupon: for $59, you get a BYOB sushi-making and painting class at Vino2VanGogh (up to a $119 value). Vino2VanGogh holds classes every Tuesday from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. from January 3 to March 20.

Experienced art instructors at Vino2VanGogh partner with Bangkok Star Asian Restaurant to guide fledgling students through three-hour sushi-making and painting productions within the inviting walls of a cavernous, trendy studio. During the 60-minute Gogh Sushi class, Bangkok Star’s sushi chef introduces pupils to the fine art of sushi making by having them craft two delicious rolls: the Van Gogh Veggie Roll and a California Roll with a special Van Gogh twist. After the entire class students take off with their own personal sushi kit that includes bamboo rollers, a 10-pack of nori, a secrets of sticky rice recipe, chopsticks, and a sushi call to use when hunting sushi in the wild.

For the remaining two hours, students follow seasoned painters as they walk through step-by-step painting processes, and a Bose sound system serenades them with the dulcet melodies of Pandora radio. In keeping with the Japanese theme, students will decorate canvases with a custom color background by brushing on the Japanese symbols for Live, Laugh, Love. The studio supplies artistic equipment for art instruction as well as gourmet cheese trays, wine openers, ice buckets, and glasses, though students should bring their own wine and Fun Dip snacks. Vino2VanGogh recommends arriving to classes 20 minutes early to mingle with fellow classmates or to warm up creative muscles with rigorous lunges.

Impressionist paintings adorn studio walls to inspire artists within, and an assortment of cushy sofas creates a lounge-like atmosphere perfect for inspirational pillow fights. Although attendants must be 21 to drink, students as young as 14 can participate in the class when accompanied by an adult.

Though Vino2VanGogh sometimes features a discounted price online, this Groupon still offers the best deal available.
