On the night of their senior prom, four friends promise to be in each other’s weddings (no matter what) – but they have no idea they’ll still be fulfilling the promise 30 years later. Aurora’s Vintage Theatre says “I do” to Always a Bridesmaid, a hilarious and heartwarming comedy. Written by the trio of Jessie Jones (Kingdom Come), Nicholas Hope (Teacher’s Pet) and Jamie Wooten (The Golden Girls), the play asks the question, just how far are you willing to go to keep a promise to a friend? The story centers around hopeful romantic Libby Ruth, who has a perfect marriage, Deedra, who’s just found out her husband has a wandering eye, tree-hugging Charlie, who panics when it’s time for her own marriage, and high-spirited and self-involved Monette, who’s tested her friends’ patience with all-too-frequent trips down the aisle. If you’ve ever worn a hideous bridesmaid dress, knocked over a friend to catch the bouquet or questioned the sanity of getting married in the first place, this is the play for you. And if you go to the show wearing your hideous (or lovely) bridesmaid dress you’ll get a discount at the bar!
