What You'll Get
True wine connoisseurs teach themselves to distinguish varietals, identify flawed bottles, and cry pure chardonnay. Become one with the grape with today's Groupon: for $89, you get a private winemaking experience and 12 bottles of custom-made wine at Vintages Handcrafted Wines in Fort Collins (a $180 value).
Drawing from Old World Italian traditions, experienced vintner Lino DiFelice and the staff at Vintages Handcrafted Wines concoct custom blends according to clients’ personal tastes, using grapes imported from across the globe. Like selecting a new paint color for one’s living room, the experience begins with a consultation and tasting. During the tasting, seasoned oenophiles help a group of up to 10 participants discover their favorite flavors while sampling an array of red and white juices and grapes. Based on taste preferences and favorite food pairings, winemakers begin to transform the chosen fruits into custom-made varietals. Wines ferment in-house for about 6–16 weeks, after which customers can retrieve 12 corked bottles of their own unique blend. Budding sommeliers can further individualize their Dionysian elixirs by designing their own label, complete with a personalized message, photo, and hand-drawn barcode.

About Vintages Handcrafted Wines
Since 1999, founder Lino DiFelice has paid tribute to his Italian heritage with customized micro-cases of wine made to customers’ specifications—often by the customers themselves. Armed with more than three decades in the business, a staff of experienced oenophiles, and grapes from Italy, France, and California, DiFelice is able to guide his guests through the bottling process as they select the flavors that best suit their tastes. At tastings, customers can mix a concoction from scratch and wait for the fermentation process, or select one of Vintages’ signature reds and whites.
