Q:

As a contact wearer, I haven't purchased eyeglasses in years. In your previous post, you noted that frames start at $59. Can you give me some guidelines on lens pricing and what that would translate to in total cost? I'm trying to get a rough idea of total cost, and how far $200 would go. Thanks for your help.

GM  asked on  May 21, 2013

A:

Hi GM, The best way to get an accurate answer is to call the Vision Center nearest to you and let them know what type of eyewear you currently have, (i.e. if you have single vision, bifocal or progessive lenses) and whether you have specific needs, i.e. office wear, sports, driving, sunglasses, that you want you r new glasses for. It also helps to let them know what your price range is — so they can tell you if what you want is available w/in your price range. I hope that helps!

Q:

Why can't this be used for racquetball single vision glasses?

Richard F.  asked on  May 20, 2013

A:

Hi Richard, I am sorry the deal does not apply to safety glasses, or sports eyewear. Please consider calling your local Vision Center at Meijer to see if they carry any brands that would be considered safe for Racquetball and also qualify for this deal.

Q:

Can you get a prescription written for contacts, for an extra fee? Not get the contacts of course, but at least get a prescription for contacts???

Mary B.  asked on  May 20, 2013

A:

Yes. The eye exam covers contacts and/or glasses. However, there is an additional contact lens fitting fee of $35-75 based on lens design. I would suggest you go through the fitting process, to make sure you get the right lens for maximum comfort. You can get also get glasses with this eye exam and the Groupon includes $200 towards your purchase of eyeglasses.

Q:

Does the exam check for "cataracts?"

sdgrundy G.  asked on  May 19, 2013

A:

Hi, The Groupon includes a routine eye exam, which can check for cataracts. An eye exam will include a visual acuity test. This eye chart test measures how well you see at various distances. Your eye care professional also may do other tests to learn more about the structure and health of your eye.

Q:

Are progressive lens included and anti glare?

 asked on  May 19, 2013

A:

Hi Janice, Progressive lenses and anti-reflective coatings are available at the Vision Center. You will have $200 towards the purchase of a pair of prescription eye glasses, which can include a variety of lenses and treatments. If your eyewear purchase costs more than $200 total, (progressive lenses are more sophisticated lenses, so they are more expensive than a single vision or bifocal lens) then you just pay the difference in cost. The best way to find out is to visit or call your local Vision Center at Meijer.
