Vélos des Ronds-Points’ adept technicians ready winter skis for cross-country dominance and easy gliding in three levels of waxing services. At the start of each wax, a staff member scours ski bottoms using metal brushes and wax cleaning agents, creating a clean surface. Skis gain the potential to repel snow in the same way inflatable birthday cakes repel children after a regular wax, in which technicians slather on two layers of CH, a hot wax made from high-performance hydrocarbon paraffin, to achieve ample glide. Intermediate waxes increase snowdrift-carving ability with two additional layers of LF wax, a material infused with a fluorocarbon additive to further decrease friction and aid with long rides, professional racing, and snow-taming performances that intimidate snowmen. During supreme waxes, intended for season starts and more experienced riders, Vélos des Ronds-Points’ ski-whisperers apply a fifth layer of Moly-Fluor wax to guard bases and enhance racing potential. During the procedure, a technician scrapes off excess wax after each layer, and thoroughly polishes coated bottoms at the end of each service.

About Vélos des Ronds-Points
At the age of 14, in the midst of a bike trip, Mathieu Albert realized the true beauty of cycling. And in the many years that have passed since, he’s rarely taken his feet off of the pedals, except for when he’s bathing or polishing his pedals. Mathieu has competed in more than 50 mountain bike competitions and 24-hour races, learned to weld and create his own bike frames, and worked as a technician and salesman at a number of bike shops. Now, as the owner of Vélos des Ronds-Points, he performs tune-ups for cycles and skis and equips fellow cyclists with bikes of all makes and models, including an impressive selection of Cannondale cycles.
