Contrary to popular belief, when the moon hits your eye like a big pizza pie, that's a lawsuit. Enjoy Italian cuisine without fear of physical reprisal with today's Groupon: for $20, you get $40 worth of Italian fare and drinks at Vola Kitchen and Bar on Hylan Boulevard.
Launched by the owners of Da Noi, Vola features a menu of traditional, tastefully tweaked Italian cuisine that includes pastas, salads, seafood, and meat entrees. The hard-to-miss exterior of bright yellows and reds admits meal pilgrims to an interior bedecked with black chairs, red-topped tables, funky art, and a hip, modern vibe. A smattering of the salivation-inducers include the Da Noi's caprini salad of field greens topped with goat cheese, walnuts, and balsamic vinaigrette ($8.95), gnocchi quattro formaggi ($15.95), and the bistecca Argentina, a skirt steak sidekicked by chimichurri sauce and mashed potatoes or fries ($17.95). Patrons can expect a sizable bar crowd and a kitchen open late enough to catch dainty princesses as they turn into hungry pumpkins.
- Vola's atmosphere was so unique. I forgot I was in Staten Island! It doesn't have the same old italian resturaunt [sic] look to it. Very fresh and original. – debbie wheeler, Urbanspoon
- The menu offers a modestly sizable collection of usual and unusual Italian appetizers hot and cold, meat and seafood and just salads along with a reasonable selection of entres [sic] to meet any demands of Italian foodies. – Larry M., Yelp
