Helpful folks. Girl behind the desk was cute. I'd go with them again.

My Groupon last spring for Voyageur Canoe Outfitters was actually the second one I'd purchased. The first (also my first-ever Groupon) was purchased in late fall of 2010 as a Christmas present for my partner, Emily. She always wanted us to go together to the Boundary Waters Canoe Area and I'd always responded that I no longer wished to sleep on the ground. Being fully outfitted by Voyageur makes the now annual adventure easy and fun for both of us! I discovered that sleeping on the ground is pretty sweet when, after canoeing in beautiful country all day, you make camp with gear and food that experienced hands have planned and packed with attention to every detail. Thanks Voyageur, for helping me give camping a second chance.

Everything was great. A little guidance problem that created an extra long portage that we weren't anticipating.

Voyageur Canoe Outfitters arranges leisurely explorations of the Boundary Waters Canoe Area and Quetico Provincial Park with stays at more than 65 secluded campsites. Eight-mile tows deliver campers to four-day stays, equipped with Alumacraft canoes and basic safety techniques such as avoiding paddle slaps from sneaking up on the canoe's stern.

Outfitting packages include full equipment that shelters campers inside an Alps mountaineering tent and orchestrates restful nights atop Thermarest pads and insulated sleeping bags. Cooking equipment and stove fuel turns self-provided ingredients into cooked, rustic meals, and a camp shovel lets diners turn fire rings into giant cereal bowls.

BWCA fees are not included in today's Groupon.

About Voyageur Canoe Outfitters

While exploring the Gunflint trail, one often hears the trickle of the Boundary Waters, the echoes of wolves howling, and the soothing absence of city noise. As owners and operators of Voyageur Canoe Outfitters, Mike and Sue Prom have a deep understanding of the land and are proud to call the area home. The Prom family provides adventurers with gear and supplies for exploring nearby trails, waterways, and orbiting moons. The outfitter also organizes complete trip packages to keep groups equipped when paddling along the BWCA or camping in Quetico Park. In 2010, Gustave Axelson of the New York Times followed Mr. Prom on an ice-fishing voyage through Quetico, fondly recalling the rugged outdoorsman's ability to rig fishing lines, keep the tent stove roaring, and prepare fresh lake trout with a bit of maple syrup into a dinner that was "three-star quality and joyous as a wedding feast."
