The waffles & drinks were great, but may want to review food prep with team

They have the most yummy treats - worth a splurge! The groupon is for 2 waffles (wafels) and 2 shakes - that's a lot of food, can pretty much count as 2 meals. We've used these twice now when visiting NYC and both times considered it "brunch" and then didn't even eat a large dinner.

What You'll Get

In addition to providing homes for pats of butter, waffles' nooks and crannies provide excellent storage for loose change, prescription pills, and miniature statues of Alan Alda. Feast upon nature's cabinets with today's deal: for $4, you get your choice of Verdekke ice-cream wafel-wich or double dinges ice-cream cone and a drink at Wafels & Dinges, an $8 value. Redeem your Groupon at any one of Wafels & Dinges’ three locations: the "Bierbeek" cart on the corner of Fulton and Front, the roving Wafel Truck, or the "Goesting" cart at the new Riverside Park South location between 59th- and 68th-street entrances.

Wafels & Dinges, the eclectic Vendy Award-winning waffle shack, specializes in serving up Belgian's best in inventive ways. Scarf on the brand-new for summer Verdekke ice-cream sandwich, which pits quality cold cream inside two authentic wafels. Those seeking a more traditional treat can try the double wrapped ice-cream cone with choice of two toppings, or dinges. Choose from strawberries, bananas, Belgian chocolate fudge, nutella, dulce de leche, walnuts, or Wafels & Dinges’ exclusive spekuloos spread. Tasty and nutritional, wafels and dinges combine the exotic flavor of a European jaunt with an outing at a breakfast bar located inside a European hotel in America.

Chef Thomas DeGeest also beat Bobby Flay in the waffle episode of the Food Network show Throwdown. The food truck has been featured by Details, Food & Wine, the Today Show, the New York Times, and the New York Post to name just a few. More than 200 Yelpers give Wafels & Dinges a four-star average.

  • We got the liege waffle with Ice cream, Bananas, and Belgian chocolate syrup. The waffle had such a great consistency and texture, crispy on the outside while nice and chewy on the inside. And the chocolate and the ice cream topped on it really balanced it out. – Gregory C., Yelp
  • Why is this waffle so special? It's the perfect balance of crunch and softness, the caramelized sugar outside adds a small crunch while the inside remains perfectly gooey and delicious! – Jackie A., Yelp
  • Of course I got the WMD. Which has everything on it. Delicious. – Ziyan C., Yelp

About Wafels & Dinges

"I basically sell smiles," Wafels & Dinges owner Thomas DeGeest told the New York Post when he first started his waffle food truck in 2007. Waffles were a natural calling for the native Belgian, but he has certainly evolved his home country's signature dish by adding surprising toppings in both sweet and savory flavors. The sweet "wafels," which can be ordered Brussels-style (light and crispy) or Liège-style (soft and chewy), hoist anything from chocolate fudge to fresh strawberries to love poems. The savory versions include such options as the recently launched Chicken 'n Gravy wafel, the Second Street Salmon Wafel, and the "Wake Up, Grumpy" Egg, Cheese & Bacon Wafel.

Beyond wafels, Thomas and his team serve chocolaty house coffee made by Brooklyn Roasting Company and artisanal ice cream from Mont Blanc Desserts that can be eaten on its own, on a wafel, or in a milkshake. But of course, wafels are always the focus, and even six years later, the joy people get from them is still palpable. As one fan recently tweeted, "If there is a heaven, @waffletruck is surely parked outside the gates."
