About Wafels & Dinges Cafe

"I basically sell smiles," Wafels & Dinges owner Thomas DeGeest told the New York Post when he first started his waffle food truck in 2007. Waffles were a natural calling for the native Belgian, but he has certainly evolved his home country's signature dish by adding surprising toppings in both sweet and savory flavors. The sweet "wafels," which can be ordered Brussels-style (light and crispy) or Liège-style (soft and chewy), hoist anything from chocolate fudge to fresh strawberries to love poems. The savory versions include such options as the recently launched Chicken 'n Gravy wafel, the Second Street Salmon Wafel, and the "Wake Up, Grumpy" Egg, Cheese & Bacon Wafel.

Beyond wafels, Thomas and his team serve chocolaty house coffee made by Brooklyn Roasting Company and artisanal ice cream from Mont Blanc Desserts that can be eaten on its own, on a wafel, or in a milkshake. But of course, wafels are always the focus, and even six years later, the joy people get from them is still palpable. As one fan recently tweeted, "If there is a heaven, @waffletruck is surely parked outside the gates."
