After undergoing a consult to confirm candidacy, the doctors schedule surgery, which begins with the creation of a small flap on the corneal surface. A laser then first reshapes the curvature of the cornea to focus light, and then optimizes and smoothes the corneal surface according to calibrations customized for each patient. Eyes typically heal well enough for patients to see after one day, and many procedures result in 20/20 or better vision.
Walman Eye Center
Dr. Gerald Walman has always preferred practicing locally over traveling out of state to perform surgeries. That explains why the long-time resident of Phoenix has been practicing eye surgery in the area since 1979. Something has changed in those years, though—namely, the advanced technology Dr. Walman uses to do his job.
During LASIK surgery, Walman Eye Center shapes and creates the corneal flap using the Ziemer Femto LDV, an advanced bladeless laser technology developed in Switzerland. The LASIK lasers then adjust the eye's internal curvature and bring the world, with the exception of fun-house mirrors, into crisp focus. The center even offers topography-guided LASIK, a new advancement that is designed to produce superior results to the older custom wavefront technology. In addition, the center also brightens cloudy, cataract-afflicted eyes with implant surgeries and lifts drooping eyelids with laser rejuvenation treatments.
