All honey and no sting, Flight of the Bumblebee is the latest concert from the Washington Balalaika Society, the largest Russian folk orchestra in North America. Featuring a program of Russian, Ukrainian and Gypsy music, Flight is a celebration of “wings, strings and musical things.” Two marquee talents will be accompanying the orchestra: Andrei Saveliev, a virtuoso of the balalaika, the triangular guitar-like instrument famed throughout Russia, and Tamara Volskaya, the “wizard of the strings” and master of the domra, a Russian lute.
