For most people, growing up the dyslexic son of a Chicago boxer with mob ties to become one of San Francisco's most celebrated bail bondsmen is more than enough for a full life. For Jerry Ross Barrish, subject of the documentary Plastic Man, it was only the beginning. Barrish is also a visual artist who finds discarded plastic on beaches and roadways then assembles it into sculptures as beguiling as they are divisive. Meet this uncompromising creative force following a screening of Plastic Man at Washington DC Jewish Community Center, where he'll join the film's producer for a post-movie Q&A. And be sure to come early to this quirky event to attend a pre-screening wine and cheese reception.
The pre-screening reception begins at 6:00pm.
