The Washington Metropolitan Philharmonic is kicking off their 44th season with an evening of powerful and meaningful music at the Masonic Memorial in Alexandria. Beginnings and Endings: A Concert of Prayer, Evocation, and Passion will include Bruch’s Kol Nidre (meaning “All Vows”), a prayer sung on the eve of Yom Kippur. You’ll also experience Ries’ At First Light, a tone poem that evokes the stillness of dawn. And finally you’ll enjoy Tchaikovsky’s final Symphony No. 6, also known as “The Passionate Symphony.” Together these pieces encompass love, death, tranquility and passion into one unforgettable night.
