The 1-Hour Wine Schools teach participants tips, tricks, and trivia relating to the world of wine while they nibble on cheese and crackers and sip from complimentary sample glasses they can take home. Take a terroir tour and try two whites and two reds from different regions.

The Virginia class moves the focus from the broader wine basics and delves deeper into the history and industry of a region that is fifth in wine production in the United States.
Choose from dates from March 3 to May 13. Participants should bring along $5 cash or credit for the Virginia Alcohol Board fee.
Washington Wine Academy

The school’s offerings include professional-certification classes, tours of local wineries, singles mixers, and wine-and-a-movie nights, all overseen by top wine writers and sommeliers. Students and visitors gather in the academy’s brick and mortar wine school–the first of its kind in the DC area. A large hall provides the perfect setting for presentations or Model UN practice, and the nearby Crystal City stocks an extensive collection of beer and wines from around the world.
