True wine connoisseurs can distinguish between varietals, identify flawed bottles, and cry pure chardonnay. Become one with the grape with today’s Groupon: for $30, you get a wine-education-class package for two from Water 2 Wine (a $60.85 total value). Choose between the San Antonio and New Braunfels locations. The package includes the following:
- A one-hour wine-education and food-pairing class for two (a $40 value)
- Two etched wineglasses (a $5.95 value each)
- One high-quality hinged waiter’s corkscrew (an $8.95 value)<p>
This deal does not include wine. Any students who wish to add the wine tasting may purchase it at the time of the class for the normal $10 fee.
Water 2 Wine’s experts teach students how to decide on the best bites to accompany vinos during classes held inside functioning wineries. Knowledge pours into minds as small groups of students explore the basics of pairing and sample morsels to train their taste buds. Instructors infuse humor into discussions about how to judge sips using the eyes, nose, and mouth, and students are welcome to ask questions about tasting technique, malolactic fermentation, and how to find the best wine via echolocation. After the class, pairs take home reference notes, a duo of etched wineglasses, and a high-quality corkscrew for more elegant toasts at home.
Groupon holders who choose to buy the samples can choose from select wines available for tasting, most of which have low sulfites and no histamines, which are usually responsible for headaches and flushed faces. In addition to classes, Water 2 Wine designs custom labels and has been producing award-winning wines for more than eight years.
In San Antonio, the one-hour classes are held on Wednesdays at 5 p.m., Thursdays at noon, and Saturdays at 11 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Classes are capped at 10 people. In New Braunfels, the one-hour classes are held on Tuesdays at 6 p.m., Fridays at 6:30 p.m., and Saturdays at 1:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. Classes are capped at 12 people.
