Before swim classes, learning how to stay afloat was a frightening experience that involved being thrown in deep water and wrangling undomesticated banana boats. Learn the art of buoyancy with today’s Groupon for youth swim lessons at Waterworks On Wheels, valid at any of its three locations in Gilbert and Chandler. Choose between the following options:
- For $24, you get four 30-minute youth swim lessons in January (up to a $49.50 value).
- For $45, you get eight 30-minute youth swim lessons between February and July (up to a $99 value).<p>
The acquatic experts at Waterworks On Wheels have dedicated more than 27 years to teaching kids age 10 months–10 years how to splash with purpose with a year-round schedule of 30-minute swim classes. A student-teacher ratio of 4 to 1 allows instructors to keep a close eye on paddlers as they practice water safety, swimming strokes, and throwing starfish through lifebelts. Parents can join their tots aged 10–35 months during sessions that incorporate games and songs. Older children, instead, meet with students of similar skill levels to glean tips on basic kicking techniques and proper backstroke form. Waterworks’ encouraging classes focus on having fun, mastering the waves, and mustering up the confidence to race a sea-cheetah.
Desert Swim School
The idea for Desert Swim School blossomed in the backyards of the East Valley. Founder Janice Jaicks traveled from home to home, guiding children's swimming strokes inside their own pools. Soon, the demand for her lessons required her to hire more instructors, and in addition to her summer house calls, Janice set up shop at several health clubs for year-round classes.
Today she and her team acquaint children aged 10 months–10 years with the water through a mix of patience, kindness, and know-how. The instructors seamlessly combine safety with fun, and though they specialize in teaching preschoolers and first-time swimmers, they can engage kids of all skill levels with more advanced aquatic exercises and even have a program to boost the competitive skills of adults. By maintaining a small student-to-teacher ratio, they focus on enhancing each person's aptitude regardless of prior years spent land-locked or recent hours spent swallowing helium.
