Weed Orchards & Winery
It's not easy to find a place like Weed Orchards & Winery. After all, there's more than a century of hard work behind the fifth-generation family farm, which continues to reinvent itself with each generation. When James and Catherine Weed bought the original parcel of land in 1913, they had no idea that their family would one day be bottling reds and whites. But decades later, Weed Orchards converted to a pick-your-own produce farm, which means they no longer needed their fruit-packing facility. Rather than leave the building empty, they converted it into a winery—adding yet another reason for people to visit the timeless farm at the base of the Marlboro Mountains.
More than 20 varieties of produce grow across the farm's 40 pick-your-own acres. After a day spent collecting apples, peaches, or seasonal veggies and riding the old-fashioned wagon, visitors relax at lakeside picnic tables or retire to the onsite tasting room, which serves more than 20 varieties of wine, beer, and hard cider from all over New York State. The tasting room also houses a full kitchen, where chefs bake signature white pizzas and margarita pizzas with housemade sauce. The Weed family's bakery has the perfect way to cap off these meals: a hot apple-cider donut, baked fresh daily.
