What You'll Get

When someone's getting all up in your grill, the best thing to say is "You better step off! The surface temperature of grills can approach 550 degrees Fahrenheit—you shouldn't be standing on that thing!" Today's deal demonstrates a high regard for safety by leaving the grilling to the professionals: for $20, you get $40 of charbroiled dining at WestChase Grille in Overland Park. WestChase is an OpenTable Diners' Choice Winner.

WestChase's menu is overflowing with modern delights of American flavor. Open a dialogue with your stomach by presenting it with lump blue crab cake ($11) or lobster spring rolls with Thai ginger dipping sauce ($11). A salt-and-pepper pork chop ($24) battles hunger with its battalion of beefy pork muscle and artillery of twice-baked potato cake and brussels sprouts with bacon and apples. Or, opt for an American delicacy, the jumbo sea scallops with crimini-mushroom risotto and greens tossed in a truffled vinaigrette (market price). For lunchtime raids, go straight for the Kobe beef or grilled chicken burgers (beef $9.95, chicken $7.95).

Fine dining doesn't have to be a stuffy experience, so relax in the purple booths and wooden chairs at WestChase. The wooden floors and roomy, romantic ambience set an excellent mood for marriage proposals, divorce proposals, and admissions of twinning. The casually elegant dining is enhanced further by the silent reassurance of stone walls, which cannot weep.

  • Before they were chefs, John Westerhaus and Chase Wilcox were best friends. It turns out, they still are. Lucky for us, the duo merged their diverse talents and put them to good use. Westerhaus’s bravado with pastry complements Wilcox’s finesse in classic French technique. – Gayot
  • Love love love the scallops!! None better. Enjoyed the spinach and strawberry salad -- very fresh, and the cheese was soft and delicious. – OpenTable.com user who dined on 06/20/10
  • The ambiance and menu are terrific...can be cozy and intimate for romantic dinner or chic and smart for business dinner. – OpenTable.com user who dined on 05/09/10

About WestChase Grille

Armed with a culinary education from Le Cordon Bleu in Paris, Chef John Westerhaus uses classical techniques and international flavors to create refined American cuisine. His inspiration stems from a deep love for the simple menus of Parisian sidewalk cafés. For starters, a chipotle-spiked hollandaise sauce blankets a plate of smoked salmon and corn cakes, and garlic-ginger dipping sauce graces lobster spring rolls. For entrees, the restaurant's chefs demonstrate their mastery of traditional American cuisine by grilling rib eyes, Kansas City–style strip steaks, and trout fillets over a pile of smoldering baseballs.

Purple booths and napkins add a splash of color to the dining room's gently lit earth tones. Stone walls divide the dining area from the kitchen, and two walls of floor-to-ceiling windows separate the restaurant from the outside world. To keep things lively indoors, the restaurant hosts live performances by local musicians Wednesday–Sunday, serenading diners with cool jazz and gentle R&B melodies.
