What You'll Get
Less prone to explosions, bird collisions, and painful butt-burns, the Segway has edged out the jetpack as the official ride of the 23rd century. Today’s Groupon gives you the chance to practice on these leisurely chariots of fire lest the future overtake you at 6 miles per hour. For $65, you get a two-hour Segway tour from West Coast Entertainment (a $137 value). Tours meet at the City Park Pier on Alaskan Way between the Seattle Aquarium and the Bell Harbor Marina. The tours begin at 9:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m., and 4 p.m., and run seven days a week.
Recently featured on KING 5’s Evening Magazine, West Coast Entertainment’s Segway tours explore Seattle’s rich cultural past, present, and alien-invaded future. After meeting your guide and getting accustomed to your newly acquired Seg-legs, the tour will proceed with a bonafide glide past landmarks like the Seattle Waterfront, Pioneer Square, Art District, Shopping District, and the famous Pike Place Market—with brief rest periods for sightseeing, busker-heckling, or just a cup of coffee. As you revel in the omni-directional mobility of your Segway, you won’t have to worry about missing a single fascinating anecdote from your guide, since you’ll hear it all through headphones provided by West Coast. Tours run rain, shine, or dandelion dust bowl, so dress appropriately. Just like a good Thanksgiving turkey, all participants must wear a helmet, be at least 14 years old, and weigh between 100 and 250 pounds.
