If woolly mammoths had mastered the triple Lutz, they would've made it out of the Ice Age and into the Bronze Age, if not the Silver or Gold Age. Ensure your long-term survival with today's Groupon: for $15, you get two admissions and two skate rentals at the Westport PAL Rink (a $30 value), located in Westport.
The recently renovated Westport PAL rink is a regulation-sized outdoor ice-skating arena that offers serene ice gliding along the beautiful Long Island Sound. Seasoned skaters will appreciate the caliber of the ice, thanks to newly installed refrigeration mats, and rink rookies can nestle nubile toes into a gleaming pair of the 250 newly added rental skates. Other recent additions include a full-size zamboni, which transforms scratched ice into a smooth surface and can honk Tchaikovsky's Symphony no. 1 in G Minor, as well as a 15% expansion of its surface area.
Westport PAL Rink
Since 1996, ice skaters have gracefully glided beneath clear skies atop the shiny surface of the outdoor Westport PAL Rink. 2016 marks their 20th anniversary being the only true outdoor public ice skating rink in Fairfield County. Every night when the sun goes down, overhead lights flicker on around the boards to accommodate late-night triple axels and hockey games delayed by puck strikes. The rink’s instructors are each certified by the United States Figure Skating Association and offer group and private instruction in figure skating, hockey, or basic technique. The rink is now a full regulation size rink and measures 200'x85' and includes large indoor heated changing areas and food concessions.
