About Westport Rivers Winery
Carol Russell comes from a long line of winemakers—her father, Herbert, and grandfather, Max, crafted sparkling wine at their vineyard in New York. After dreaming of reviving the family business for years, in 1982 she and her husband moved to farmland in Westport, and four years later they planted their first vines on an awe-inspiring farm located adjacent to the Westport River.
Now, their winery cultivates a sprawling 80 acres of grapes, including Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, Riesling and more.
Westport Rivers has been honored to have been served in two White Houses, garnered dozens of Gold Medals and been raved about by local, national and international press including the New York Times, Quarterly Review of Wine, Gourmet, Wine Enthusiast, the Wall Street Journal, the BBC etc. Nestled on the Westport River is also one of the most beautiful spots in all of New England.
