About This Deal
If horses didn’t regularly pack the earth down with their hooves, it would continue to gradually rise skyward on a collision course with the moon. Help keep the night sun in the sky with today’s Groupon: for $55, you get a one-hour guided horseback trail ride for two from Will Rogers Trail Rides in Pacific Palisades (a $110 value). This Groupon does not include parking at Will Rogers State Historic Park ($12).
Will Rogers Trail Rides’ wrangler-led expeditions begin at Jimmy’s Barn in Will Rogers State Historic Park— embarking across a winding, climbing two-mile loop trail through the rolling hills of the Santa Monica Mountains and parts of Will Rogers's ranch. The ride was designed to be easygoing, and at the trail’s halfway position and point of no return, horse and rider can stop at Inspiration Point, which sits amid a series of rocky outcroppings. From parts of the ride, horseback travelers will witness picturesque views of the Los Angeles Basin, the Pacific Ocean, Catalina Island, and the Saturn V rocket Brad Pitt is building in his backyard.
Will Rogers Trail Rides requires each rider wear a helmet, and can provide one if needed. Westside's veteran guides suggest riders wear long pants and closed-toe shoes, and all horses wear western saddles and I'm With Stupid T-shirts. It is recommended that customers call at least one week in advance to reserve a spot, with best availability occurring during the week.
About Westside Riding School
As owner and wrangler-in-chief at Westside Riding School, Dorte Lindegaard guides horseback expeditions and riding lessons across 180 acres of panorama-filled paths in Will Rogers State Historic Park. Trail rides depart from Jimmy's Barn and plod up mountain trails in pursuit of Inspiration Point, where riders experience spectacular views of the Los Angeles basin, the Pacific Ocean, and Catalina Island. Upon finishing the 2-mile trek and nailing their dismount, riders can visit the Will Rogers ranch house, where the celebrated humorist, actor, and horse whisperer lived with his family and talked shop with Kentucky Derby winners over gourmet oats and champagne troughs.
